Guardian Opportunities Available

Every dog deserves to be a part of a family so they can enjoy leisurely walks, hikes in the woods, evening snuggles and one on one attention. Guardian families provide a forever home as they cherish and care for one of our parent dogs as their pet. A happy, health dog means happy, healthy puppies!

Why do we seek carefully selected Guardian Homes?

We believe in an approach that puts our dogs well-being first. Every dog deserves a forever family to love and care for them. A Guardian home allows a dog to grow up and live full-time with a loving family while remaining part of our breeding program for a limited period. Once that agreement is complete, the dog becomes 100% yours.

The dog lives in a home, enjoying the love of a family, going on walks, and being part of daily life. They receive individual attention, training, and socialization. Females are bred responsibly and retired after only a few litters into the home they already love.

We intentionally limit the number of dogs living with to ensure that we…

  1. Maintain the highest standards of care

  2. Focus on health, temperament, and quality — not quantity

  3. Make certain every dog gets the attention they deserve

What does this mean for the Guardian Family?

  • You receive a selectively chosen, well bred dog with no purchase cost to love and care for as your family member. In return, your dog remains part of the breeding program. If your dog is a female, this means that there will be the occasional time away from your pet during whelping and while she is raising her puppies. We work closely you to provide guidelines for proper diet and training and cover all breeding-related veterinary care and expenses. As with all of our dogs, we remain a support system for the life of the dog

  • You must be willing to partner with us which means driving your dog to vet visits, health clearances, and breedings in Peterborough, NH

  • You must live within 1-1.5 hours of Litchfield, NH.

  • When the dog is retired, he or she is neutered/spayed and ownership is transferred to the guardian family that already knows and loves her.

  • Transparency is incredibly important so a Guardian can expect…

    • Clear, written contracts

    • Limit the number of times a female dog is bred (3-4 litters)

    • Prioritize health testing and recovery after every litter

    • Place dogs only with families we trust knowing that they want to be a part of the Vidadoodle mission.

Guardian homes make our program possible while allowing us to improve the breed responsibly.

Our goal is simple: happy dogs, supported families, and responsible breeding.

If you think joining our Guardian program may be right for you, we’d love to talk and answer any questions. Reach out with additional questions bernedoodlenh@gmail.com or 603-930-4342
